Blog Guidelines

Thanks so much for expressing an interest in writing a blog for Endangered Bodies! Before you get started, here are some tips and guidelines to keep in mind.

Content

Firstly, we would ask that the content of your blog post is in keeping with the overall aims of Endangered Bodies. Check out our Mission and Guidelines for a quick guide to our values and read through our existing blog posts for more information. If you’re not sure if a topic is appropriate for this site, check in with your local Endangered Bodies team for feedback.

If you have been inspired by something you heard or read elsewhere, please remember to include a link to the original source! In addition, please credit anyone (co-authors, editors, proof-readers, translators etc.) who have helped along the way.

Avoiding Plagiarism

Plagiarism is using someone else’s words or ideas without providing credit. If you are going to include a direct quote from another source, it must be contained in quotation marks and the source cited (include link if applicable). If you paraphrase another author or site’s words, you must also cite the source. Be aware that slightly changing other people’s words (eg shuffling them around, replacing a couple of them) is still plagiarism even if you cite.

For information on how to avoid plagiarising, see: http://www.wikihow.com/Avoid-Plagiarism

Images

You can provide your own original images for the blog post or you can source them online. If you source an image online, make sure that you have permission to do so. There’s a quick guide to common copyright licences here. We suggest using images from Flickr.com that are available free for use under Creative Commons licence. (Use the advanced search option.)

Comments

We love to see discussions continue in the comment section so please respond to comments if possible.  However, if a commenter is abusive or overly-personal, let us know so that we can delete it and warn the user that that type of comment isn’t acceptable.

Blog etiquette

Let us know if the blog post has been posted elsewhere and make sure to ask permission to repost. If you’d like to share your Endangered Bodies blog post elsewhere, please let us know as we request linkbacks to our site.
